The New Zealand Historic
Places Trust is the country's leading heritage agency
whose mission is to keep New Zealand's
heritage places alive and useful.The Trust's activities
relate to the recognition, protection and promotion
of New Zealand's historic and cultural heritage.
To encourage and
support study, research, publication and interest in
history, particularly in Canterbury, and
to promote awareness of the social value of history
in our
community.
The Branch works closely with the Area Co-ordinator and staff in the Regional Office to raise awareness of heritage issues within the region and provides a link between members of the Trust and the Trust Board.
